Master in Tourism and Hospitality Online
MASTER OF ARTS INTERNATIONAL HOSPITALITY & TOURISM LEADERSHIP
New online programme from January 2011!
Alpine Center is happy to announce the launch of a new online programme in January 2011. The programme will be an online version of our very successful Masters in International Hospitality and Tourism Leadership which has been running for 6 years. The online programme will be based on Alpine’s specially designed Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), and teaching will take place online rather than in a physical classroom. This format allows students to participate in online classroom discussions and work on assignments at times that are convenient for them and not a specified time each day. Obviously this can be done from any location around the world. Furthermore the design of the programme allows 4 different entry dates per year: January, April, June and October.
This flexibility makes the programme an ideal choice for professionals who need to complement or document their knowledge, and for Greek or international students who need a flexible route to a Masters qualification that they can tailor according to their circumstances, availability and preferences.
The programme includes 7 taught modules and a Dissertation, exactly as the classroom-based version. Each module is 8 or 10 weeks long and runs on multiple time periods during each calendar year. The programme is organised so as to allow students to choose their own ‘module path’ from among several options according to their own availability or constraints. The Programme Calendar gives an indication of when each module is offered. Up to 4 modules will be offered simultaneously, and there is no restriction to the number of modules a student can register for at a time (subject to a set minimum numbers of students registering for that module). Also, there is no specific order in which the modules can be taken. However, especially for students who have limited background in the tourism and hospitality industry, the Programme Leader will be able to recommend appropriate ‘chains’ of modules to ensure each student gets the most out of the programme.
The duration of the programme varies from 12 months to 5 years according to the availability and performance of each student. The fastest route, involving up to three modules at a time, no gaps between the modules, and provided that the student will pass all modules in their first attempt, will be 12 months. A typical route for a student that can take one or two modules at a time, leaving no gaps between the modules, and passing all modules in their first attempt, including the completion of the dissertation, will be 2 years. Each student will have maximum 5 years in which they must complete the programme.
